About Daniel&Esther

daniel & esther

Daniel works in the consumer electronics industry but hopes to one day own a cafe. Like most Hainanese men, he can whip up a storm in the kitchen and is constantly invited to other people's house parties... to cook for them.

Esther works for a major airline by day, and bakes incessantly by night. Trained as a chemical engineer, she puts that knowledge to good use - by reading package labels to see if it's good for you.

Missing Bangkok…

By daniel | August 17, 2007

street food

It’s been a long time since Esther and I last been to Bangkok, and I’m craving the humungous variety of street food the busy Thai capital has to offer. And we’re not talking about deep-fried grasshoppers or other strange and icky stuff. From lemongrass-spiced sausages (pictured above) and their version of satay (pictured below) to the more popular mango salad and Pad Thai noodles, Bangkok’s street culinary culture has much to offer the adventurous traveller.

Those who are squeamish need not fear. Their streets may be dusty and dirty, but the food is surprisingly sanitarily prepared. And now to plan for our next trip!
